Hi, I’m Lily!

I created The Market Tea because I feel like finance is often filled with big words and jargon to explain concepts that can be much simpler than they sound. If you’ve ever read a financial headline and thought, “ I have absolutely no idea what that means,“ you’re not alone.

My goal is to make financial news approachable and easy to digest. I don’t want confusing terminology to be the reason someone tunes out from understanding what’s happening in the world around them.

This is a little passion project of mine. I have both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Finance, but I’m still learning every single day. That’s part of what makes finance so interesting. The markets are constantly changing, and there is always something new to learn. Every day, I come across something I didn’t know before, and I want to share that same curiosity through this blog.

Most of my closest friends didn’t study finance, and many of them didn’t study business at all. Somehow, I’ve become the designated “finance friend.” If they have a question about money or something they saw in the headlines, I’m usually the first person they ask. That’s when I realized finance doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it just needs to be explained differently.
